Many thanks in advance for your contributions!

Bangladesh, land of poets and artists, is also well known for its rich, spicy flavors and alluring aroma. Desserts tend to be sweet and milky and savoury dishes hot and spicy. There’s no room for disappointment if invited into a Bengali home, in fact you’ll have a great time experimenting with these scrumptious Bangladeshi recipes.

You’ll find that a lot of the dishes you see here are already familiar to you. That’s because South Asian cuisine (which includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal) all share a common thread: the spices! The most important spices used in Bangladeshi cooking are garlic, ginger, coriander, cumin, turmeric and chilli. In sweet dishes, cardamom and cinnamon are used to enhance the flavor.

Boiled rice is the staple diet of Bangladeshi’s and traditionally, fish has been a must for all meals since in Bangladesh, many types of fresh water fish are easily available. Many meals are also accompanied by some type of vegetable dish, lentils (or daal) and some sort of chicken or meat dish. This all sounds very rich and fanciful, but it needn’t be. In fact, these days, more and more people are opting for healthier ways of cooking these delicious recipes as you will soon see for yourself.

The main thing to remember is this: If you get the spices right and blend them for the right amount of time, you will end up with the perfect dish!
